President's Report

President





The President exercises general and administrative authority over the union. It is the duty of the President to preside at all meetings of the Local Union to sign all orders on the treasury authorized by the Local Union countersign all checks issued by the Financial Secretary against accounts of the Local Union when ordered by the Union enforce the provisions of the Constitution and appoint committees not otherwise provided for. S/He shall be a member exofficio of all committees with the exception of a Local Union Trial Committee and the Local Union Election Committee. In addition, the President performs other duties necessary to protect and advance the interests of both the International and Local unions - reporting such matters to the Executive Board and the membership. Is also the Co-Editor of the “Local’s News”.

1st Vice President





The 1st Vice President assists the President in the discharge of her/his duties and shall attend all sessions of the Local Union. In case of the absence or incapacity of the President, the President’s duties shall be performed by the 1st Vice President.



Tanya Love



2nd Vice President





The 2nd Vice President replaces the 1st Vice President in case of the absence of both the President and the 1st Vice President. The 2nd Vice President also works with each Standing Committee Chairperson to assist in way to attain a more workable committee in addition to meeting with the Executive Board or President to answer any questions that may arise pertaining to any committee.

Recording Secretary





The Recording Secretary keeps a correct record of the proceedings of the Local Union signs all orders on the treasury authorized by the Local Union reads all documents and conducts the general correspondence received by the Local Union which does not pertain directly to the duties of the other officers of the Local Union and keeps same on file for future reference. The Recording Secretary brings to the attention of the Local’s membership any correspondence upon which the membership must take action. Works closely with and replaces the Financial Secretary in the absence of the Financial Secretary.

Financial Secretary





The Financial Secretary / Treasurer receives all dues, initiation fees, readmission fees, and other income of the Local Union for any fund from any source and causes receipts to be issued for same as well depositing same in accounts owned by the Local Union. S/He also causes checks to be issued upon receipt of a proper request for same. S/He will also report in writing every month at a regular Local Union Meeting the amount of monies received and paid out during the previous calendar month. The Financial Secretary / Treasurer signs all checks, which must be countersigned by the President. In case of absence of the President, both Vice Presidents, and the Recording Secretary, the Financial Secretary will perform the duties of the President.

Trustee chairperson





Chairperson of the Trustees provides inventory reports, and financial findings, recommendations, and financial questions to the Executive Board. Trustees have general supervision over all funds and property of the Local Union. They cause the Local’s records of the financial officer’s to be audited by an outside Certified Public Accountant semiannually. They also assure that the Local Union Financial Officers are bonded in conformity with the International Union. The Trustees also conduct an inventory of the Local Union’s furniture, equipment, and other items owned by the Union semiannually. In case of absence of the President, both Vice Presidents, the Recording Secretary and the Financial Secretary, the Chairperson of the Trustees will perform the duties of the President.

Sergeant-at-Arms





The Sergeant-at-Arms introduces all new members and visitors and assists the President to preserve order when called upon. Works with the Guide.

Guide





The Guide maintains order, inspects the membership receipts to verify that all present are entitled to be in the Local’s meetings, and works with the Sergeant-at-Arms.



Kenny Hines



Unit 1 (GM) Shop Chairperson
(Member-at-Large)





Top member of both the Unit 1 (GM) Shop Committee and Bargaining Committee as well as the lead negotiator for the UAW Local 276 Local Agreement. The Unit 1 (GM) Shop Chairperson is also the lead representative for the GM Arlington hourly workers on the Local 276 Executive Board. Reports the decisions of the Unit 1 (GM) Shop Committee’s decisions on items and issues affecting GM hourly workers to the Executive Board. Also advises the Board about bargaining activity, grievance counts, upcoming transfers, and hiring at GM. Reports tentative contract settlements to the Board.



Phillip Harvey



Unit 2 (CARAVAN) Chairperson
(Member-at-Large)





The Unit 2 (Caravan) Chairperson is the representative for the Caravan hourly workers on the Local 276 Executive Board. Reports the decisions of the Unit 2 (Caravan) Bargaining Committee’s decisions on items and issues affecting Caravan hourly workers to the Executive Board. Also advises the Board about bargaining activity, grievance counts, upcoming transfers, and hiring at Caravan. Reports tentative contract settlements to the Board.



Lonnie Morgan



Retired Workers' Chapter Chairperson
(Member-at-Large)





The Retired Workers’ Chapter President is the official representative for all Local 276 Retirees and as such is their Executive Board Representative. S/He reports on all activities, items, and issues affecting Local 276 Retirees as well as advising the Board about Retiree Meetings and their proceedings. The Retired Workers’ Chapter President also works with the Local 276 President to coordinate Retirees to be the first members on the picket line should a strike be called by the International Union.
